Get more customers with Google Ads and PPC

Google Ads are included in the majority of Google search results. Google Ads, which are paid for by companies, is an effective tool for driving qualified traffic to your site when people search for products and services that your business provides.

This article will explain what Google Ads are, how they work, and why it’s a good idea to run your own Google Ads.

What is Google Ads all about?

Google Ads, also known as Google PPC (pay-per-click), is a platform that allows businesses to increase their visibility on Google’s sites. Google Ads ads are classified into several types. The most popular is the search ad. This appears on the results page for relevant searches. Businesses can also run Google Ads display ads, YouTube ads and shopping ads.

Google Ads

Here is an example Google SERP with ads. There are two sections for paid results. One is above the organic or non-paid results and one is below.

Google display ads

Google Display ads can be in text, image, video, or rich media format. They can also be targeted differently, such as through audiences and a href=”https://www.wordstream.com/blog/ws/2019/05/23/google-display-ads”>remarketing/a>. Google Display Ads are available in image, video or rich media formats and can be targeted by audience and Remarketing.

Google Shopping Ads

Google Shopping ads are displayed on the SERP as well as the tab for shopping. The ads are different from regular ads because you cannot target keywords. Google will then match your detailed product catalog to relevant searches. You can tell Google the keywords that you do not want to see your ads for.

YouTube Ads

Google Ads is the only way to advertise on YouTube. You can create text, video or display ads to appear before and during videos, and anywhere else on the platform. YouTube’s ad-targeting works similarly to display targeting.

Why Google Ads are displayed on the SERP

Google Ads is centered around Keywords, The words that people will most likely use when searching for your product. Google Ads campaigns are created by advertisers who create an ad that features a specific product and select a list keywords relevant to their offer. Google checks to see if there are any advertisers bidding for keywords related to the search (also called a query) when someone performs a Google search. Ads will be displayed on the SERP if there are any advertisers bidding.

How does Google choose which ads to display?

Here we explain in full the Google Ads Auction, but for a short version, we will simplify it. Google enters all relevant keywords per account into the auction when advertisers bid on relevant keywords for a search on Google.

The Quality Score is based on the relevance of each keyword to the query, among other factors. It will then give each keyword an Ad Rank by multiplying the Quality Score by maximum bid of the advertiser. Ads with the highest Ad Rank score are shown.

You’ll want to optimize both your quality score and your bid amount in order to “win” Google Ads auctions. Your ad position will be better if your quality score is higher, combined with your bid. Your Quality Score is affected by the following factors, among others:

  • The relevance of your Google ad is based on the search query
  • You can measure the relevanceof a Google keyword in relation to your adgroup.
  • The relevance of your ad and its landing page
  • The historical Click-through Rate of the ad ( CTR).
  • Performance of historical accounts

A high score can also have a number of benefits.

  • Lower cost_ Google rewards advertisers who have high Quality Scores with a lower Cost Per Click (CPC), which helps improve ROI.
  • More exposure – If you have a high Quality Score, your ads are displayed more frequently and in a better position on the SERP – the top of the page vs. bottom. You can get more conversions and clicks by increasing your bids.
